UMEP Guadeloupe
A player involved in maritime and port development.
For more than fifteen years, UMEP has been responsible for coordinating the port community, facilitating meetings and acting as spokesman for its members' expectations, as well as contributing to the answers to those expectations. Now a privileged partner of the port, regional, national and international institutions, UMEP supports projects which aim at promoting its harbour area.

Playing a federating role for most of the concerned professions, UMEP possesses a true knowledge of its region, and is thus able to be a major actor regarding proposals and subsequent actions.
Fields and Actions of the UMEP
· Overhaul of the port handling · Organization of the first seminar on Electronic Data Interchange for local company managers and decision makers · Signature of an agreement with the customs authorities to facilitate relations with users (1997) · Organization of a competition on the maritime and port environment in local colleges (in partnership with DIREN and the Education Offices, under the aegis of the F.C.C.A, an international organized based in Miami) (1997) · Preliminary study and management of the implementation of the maritime, port and customs computerized data exchange platform : ADEMAR+, operated by SA CEIBA (1997-1999) · Participation in all congresses organized by the national network of Maritime and Port Unions, of which it is now a member (1994-1999) · Participation in global examination of the General Interest Plan for the Jarry Port Zone, at the request of the Baie-Mahault Municipal Authorities (2001) · Participation in the 32nd annual congress of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) (2002) · Presidency of the ADEMAR+ platform follow-up Committee (2002-2004) · Upon request by the port community and the PAG, handling of the Communication necessary for Guadeloupe harbour to obtain the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Code. Solidarity actions for the port community of the island of Grenada and other Caribbean islands (2004)
UMEP continues its way forward at the service of the maritime and port economy of Guadeloupe.
